Canoeists and kayakers avoided the heat of midday and paddled all their races at Nga Lite Dam in the morning Thursday.
In the women’s K1 500m Erni Sokoy Ina (INA) took gold in 2 minutes 6.09 seconds, topping silver medalist Geraladine Wei Ling Lee (SIN) by 1.644 second and bronze winner Kanopan Suansan (THA) by 2.804.
Spensstuber Mehue won another gold for Indonesia in the men’s C1 500m in 1:59.256, less than a half a second ahead of silver winner Win Htike(MYA) and 2.630 ahead of Rungsawan Suansan (THA), who got the bronze.
The country’s silver came in the women’s K4 500m where Yulanda Ester Enthong, Kanti Santyawati, Sincelithasova Yom and Erni Sokoy finished just two-tenths of second behind gold medalist Myanmar.
The Myanmar women -- Myint Myint Than, Myo Thandar Tun, Naw Ahleslashe and Aye Mi Khine -- paddled home in1:44.156.
Bronze went to Vietnam’s Thi Mai Nguyen, Thi Hao Kieu, Thi Le Nguyen and Thi Duyen Nguyen.
Singapore’s Stephenie JiexianChen and Suzanne Seah took the women’s K2 500m gold in 1:56.614, trailed by silver medalists Aye Mi Khine (MYA) in 1:58.686 and bronze winners Woraporn Boonyuhong and Pattraluck Phumsatan (THA) in 1:59.734.
At Mount Pleasant, Indonesia’s Rafsanzani Chandra, Sugito Bandi, Tutuarima Wilhelmina and Yazid Kusmawati rode to gold in the women’s Mountain Bike cross-country.
In wrestling at National Indoor Stadium, Bui Tuan Anh (VIE) grappled his way to gold in the men’s freestyle 66kg, sending Ricky Fajar Adi Saputra (INA) to the silver. Angana Joseph (PHI) got the bronze.
Adding to a great day for Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Lua won glod in the women’s 51kg freestyle. She knocked Indonesian Heka Maya Sari to the silver. Chey Chan Rakamey (CAM).
Nguyen Huy Ha got Vietnam’s third wrestling gold of the day in the men’s 55kg, beating Indonesia’s Eko Roni Saputra (silver.) Aung Aung (MYA) and Lobrequito Alvin (PHI) took the bronzes.
And Nguyen The Ahn took the 60kg freestyle gold with a win over Muhammad Iqbal Iqbal (INA). Bronzes went to Kang Denpiseth (CAM) and Morte Jhonny (PHI).
At North Dagon Shooting Range in Yangon, Chotphibunsin Thanyalak, Pichitkanjanakul Vitchuda and Plengsaengthong Ratchadporn (THA) won gold in the women’s team 50m rifle prone.
Aye Aye Thin, Than Than Saw and Thu Thu Kyaw (MYA) got silver and Hamed Haslisa, Mohamed Tiabi Nur Suryasni and Zulkifli Muslifah (MAS) won bronze.
Thu Thu Kyaw (MYA) won the individual gold, Chotphibunsin Thanyalak (THA) the silver and Plengsaengthong Ratchadporn (THA) the bronze.
In boxing at Wunna Theikdi Sports Complex, Philippine champ Josie Gabuco will meet Beatrix Suguro (INA) in the women’s light flyweight gold medal match on Saturday.
In flyweight, Nguyen Thi Yen (VIE) crushed Meovady Hongfa (LAO) 3-0 and while Sopida Satumrum (THA) beat Maricris Igam (PHI) 3-0 to make the gold medal match.
Peamwilai Laopeam (THA) won 2-0 over Irish Magno (PHI) to meet Indonesian Ester Kalayukaw in the bantamweight final.
In basketball at Zeyarthiri Indoor Stadium, the first men’s match went to Thailand 80-67 over Cambodia. The Thais outscored Cambodia in every quarter except the last, but Cambodia’s late burst was far too little, far too late.
In women’s action, Malaysia routed Myanmar 95-32, outscoring them in by serious margins in each of the four quarters.
In men’s football in Yangon, Thailand dominated Indonesia 4-1 to join Myanmar atop the Group B table. Indonesia was thoroughly outplayed, managing only a consolation goal in extra time.
In women’s futsal, Vietnam lasted through a scoreless first half, then exploded for three goals in the second to beat Indonesia 3-1.
In the second match, Malaysia, 3-0 leaders at the end of the first half, weathered a renewed attack from Myanmar in the second to emerge 4-2 winners.
In sepak takraw at Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium, Thailand blanked Malaysia 3-0 in the day’s first men’s match.
In women’s play, Myanmar shut out Malaysia 3-0 and Thailand beat Indonesia, also in straight sets 3-0.
In the afternoon, Indonesia bounced back to slam Malaysia 3-0.
